Progreso Latino: A bridge to the succes

Country as The Unite State, which are target because their economic develop, where live a big community of immigrant, where exist clear and firm decision and guaranties to apply the law, there are a big amount poor people, so there is a big distances between the social classes and their opportunities

Being an immigrant has a lot of connotations:  language, food, knowledge, culture and other important aspects that make of those people need some help to adapt them to the new life.

“A new life” is a dream for a lot of people, but when the people dream with a radical change, they usually think in the perfection, however, the really can be a nightmare.
 
In The United State as a necessity have existed multiples agencies to help people with specials situations.  One of those needs is health.  In combination with the hospitals and health centers, agencies work in orientation and services to people.

One of those agencies in Rhode Island is Progreso Latino, which is located in 626 Broad Street in Central Falls.  They offer services as Citizenship Consortium, Education, Adult Education, Early Childhood, Health & Wellness, Housing Advocacy, Prevention, Immigration, Senior Programs, Youth Programs, Food Pantry, Victims of Crimes (VOCA) and VITA Site - Free Income Tax Services.

In coordination with Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island the expertise Physicians and other health care professionals join efforts  to provide a free Wellness Lecture Series featuring a diverse menu of health and  wellness programs in Spanish.

Diabetes: A Basic Understanding is the title of the next conference on April 10, which will be open to the whole community.  All about Hernias is the second one programed on May 15.

On February and March they had two conferences: Heart Attack and Stroke, and Colon Cancer Facts.  Activities coordinated with Blood pressure screenings and cholesterol screening.

People, who has low income, or do not have insurance are the most frequently participants.  However, those activities as the others events are open for the entire society.  In this case the speakers talk in a specific language (Spanish), so the audience is a specific target, Latin people.  However, each community does similar work, so every person from different country and languages can search the own community.
